They said no to more than one billion dollars offered by Petronas some time ago, but the Province didn’t respect the decision of the Band council. That’s why Laxkwaal’aams decided to occupy Lelu Island and stop the destruction of a delicate habitat: if the giant plant is going to be built, juvenile salmon will probably disappear from the Pacific coast of Northern British Columbia. “You take away the salmon, you take away the people”.
